Hyderabad: Several victims from Telangana have alleged that UK-based YouTuber Rama Nandana and her husband J Madhukar cheated unsuspecting job seekers by promising them jobs and visas in the United Kingdom. The victims lodged complaints at the CM Prajavani programme recently held at Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Begumpet and narrated their ordeal to Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Prajavani in-charge and Vice Chairperson of the State Planning Board, and to Vidyasagar, the Prajavani State Nodal Officer.
They also met Dr. Vinod Kumar, Ambassador and Chairman of the NRI Advisory Committee.
According to the victims, Nandana and Madhukar convinced them that the UK government had authorised their consultancy company to recruit employees. They allegedly targeted people who had travelled to the UK on student and visitor visas and whose visas were about to expire, promising to get them work visas.
The victims allege that the couple collected between ₹25 lakh and ₹95 lakh from each person. They say the documents submitted by the consultancy were later found to be fake, and the UK government took severe action against several of the victims as a result.
The victims said a large number of people have been affected, including those from the Vikarabad, Jagtial and Nizamabad districts of Telangana, as well as from Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
The Prajavani officials advised the victims to file complaints with the Telangana Director General of Police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and assured them of full cooperation.
