Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to provide Rs.5 lakh financial assistance to the family of Mandala Raju, who went missing during the Telangana statehood movement in 2013.
Raju, 34, the son of Mandala Sammi Reddy of Gorla Veedu village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, went missing on June 20, 2013. According to Bhupalpally MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao, Raju had actively participated in the Telangana movement and was arrested and lodged in Cherlapally central jail. He subsequently went missing.
In a representation to the Chief Minister, the MLA said Raju was the only son of his elderly parents, who are now facing severe financial difficulties without a source of livelihood.
Responding to the MLA’s request, the Chief Minister directed officials to sanction Rs.5 lakh to Mandala Sammi Reddy on humanitarian grounds under the Telangana martyrs’ quota.
