Nellore: Former Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan has urged the Prakasam district administration to crack down on alleged unauthorised real estate layouts spread across nearly 1,200 acres in the Chirala region.
Krishna Mohan submitted a petition to the district collector and joint collector during the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) programme at the Ongole Collectorate on Monday, seeking immediate action against layouts allegedly developed in violation of DTCP and OUDA norms.
Speaking to the media, he alleged that rising land prices in the Chirala coastal belt had encouraged real estate operators to flout regulations. He said approved layouts were required to earmark 10 per cent of the land as open space, besides allocating portions for roads and other infrastructure. However, he alleged that some developers were selling almost the entire land as plots.
Such unauthorised layouts could cause substantial revenue loss to the government and leave unsuspecting buyers without basic amenities such as roads, drainage and electricity, he said.
Krishna Mohan alleged that the irregularities were being facilitated by the negligence of OUDA and local officials. He urged the district collector to order a joint inspection by revenue, panchayat and OUDA officials and immediately halt registration of plots in unauthorised layouts.
He also demanded strict action against those responsible for developing the alleged illegal layouts.
