WA to ban smart glasses in classrooms
Smart glasses will be banned from WA classrooms in an effort to protect teachers and students from being secretly recorded.
The ban will be announced by education minister Sabine Winton this morning, with the prohibition to come into place from the start of Term 4 for all public schools.
Smart glasses can record and even live-stream conversations, vision and images of people, without their knowledge or consent.
Winton said the crackdown was necessary as smart glasses become cheaper and more accessible.
