Clavicular, the controversial online influencer largely credited with popularising the phenomenon of “looksmaxxing”, has reportedly been charged with rape in the US state of Massachusetts.
The 20-year-old, whose real name is Braden Peters, has been charged with rape, drugging someone for sexual intercourse and procuring alcohol for someone under 21 years old, according to court records obtained by NBC News.
The report says charges were filed against Peters on September 8, with the alleged offences occurring on May 23 last year.
US news site The Bulwark first broke the news of the charges on Tuesday (AEST). But Mitchell Jackson, a representative for Clavicular, told The Hollywood Reporter that The Bulwark was “exaggerating” in its report and denied that Peters had been served with an arrest warrant.
“Braden Peters has not been physically served. As usual, The Bulwark is exaggerating,” Jackson said via text to Bulwark.
Peters rose to prominence over the “looksmaxxing” phenomenon, an online subculture and social media trend popular among young men that focuses on maximising physical attractiveness to improve or “ascend” social and romantic status.
Peters is one of a number of young men and teenage boys who smash their faces with a hammer to achieve perfect bone structure, and has openly used methamphetamines to boost workouts. He was hospitalised in April for a suspected drug overdose during a live stream.
“Just got home, that was brutal,” Peters said in a post on X. “My face descending from the life support mask.”
