Hyderabad: The sleuths of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Durga Prasad, who is Grama Paripalana Officer (GPO) at Peddapeta in Mancherial district in connection with a bribe case along with his accomplice Pothu Rajender.
They nabbed Prasad near the agricultural fields at Peddapeta while demanding and accepting the first installment of Rs.80,000 out of the demanded bribe of Rs.1.30 lakh from the complainant.
Prasad demanded Rs.1.30 lakh for showing official favour in connection with validation of transfer of land in the complainant’s name and issuance of Patta Passbooks, with an instruction to pay Rs.80,000 as the first instalment and the remaining Rs.50,000 after completion of the work.
During the trap proceedings, Prasad arrived along with Rajender (33) of Bitturpalli, on the motorcycle, and instructed the complainant to hand over Rs.80,000 to him. Accordingly, the complainant handed over the amount to Rajender.
The tainted bribe amount of Rs.80,000 was recovered from Rajender. The chemical test conducted on the hands of Rajender yielded a positive result, turning pink. The case is under investigation. The details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons.
