HYDERABAD: With torrential downpours triggering waterlogging across the city, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday placed the entire administrative and civic machinery on high alert, directing officials to prevent civic disruptions and mitigate public distress.
Chairing a review on the rain situation, the Chief Minister instructed the Commissioners of the three Municipal Corporations across Hyderabad, the Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), and the tri-commissionerate police heads to function in seamless coordination and monitor vulnerable spots in real time.
Directing municipal teams to deploy field personnel and heavy dewatering pumps immediately, the CM emphasised that arterial roads, critical transit junctions, and residential localities must be cleared of standing water on priority to avert severe traffic congestion. Power utilities were instructed to maintain uninterrupted supply and preempt electrocution hazards.
CM Revanth Reddy also directed disaster management teams to maintain a strict vigil over low-lying areas and vulnerable settlements prone to inundation, ensuring drains and nalas remain desilted and clear of obstructions.
With emergency response teams kept on 24/7 standby and civic control rooms activated, the Chief Minister warned officials against complacency, directing senior administrative personnel to remain available on the ground to attend to citizen grievances without delay.
