Adilabad:Health minister C. Damodar Rajanarsimha on Tuesday promised to act against officials that would be found guilty based on the report an inquiry committee constituted into Tuesday’s disaster at the RIMS, Adilabad. He also promised measures to ensure that such incidents did not recur. He said the government would provide assistance to the bereaved families.
He said the government had taken a serious incident of the RIMS fire and said that it would study the reasons that caused the incident and steps to be taken to prevent such incidents. The minister said the government would upgrade RIMS, Adilabad, on par with the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (Tims), Hyderabad and establish new wards to meet the local requirements and necessities.
Rajanarasimha inspected the ward where the fire broke out and inquired with the head of the ward and the director about the incident and held a review meeting with the officials concerned on the incident.
The minister said efforts would be made to strengthen critical care, create infrastructure, and recruit staff to meet the demands following high OP and IP and also try for post-gradation seats in Paediatrician, Radiology and Psychology departments at RIMS. Rajanarsimha said they will create a new department of haematology, which is much needed in Adilabad since thalassemia and other genetic-related diseases are high in the tribal areas in Adilabad.
The government would also strengthen the emergency and trauma care centre to attend to patients injured in road accidents on National Highway-44. Health secretary Dr Christina Z Chongthu, RIMS director Dr Rathod Jai Singh and Adilabad MLA Payal Shankar were present.
