PE teacher charged as an accessory over Sydney gangland murder plot

A Sydney teacher has been charged with conspiring to murder a member of an organised crime network.

Taskforce Falcon detectives on Tuesday afternoon arrested Ashleigh Ann Seeney, 28, at Wollongong police station over an alleged plot to murder a man police say is at the centre of an internal conflict within the crime group.

The NSW Education Department confirmed Seeney, a physical education teacher at Airds High School in Sydney’s south-west, had been stood down.

Detectives allege Seeney plotted to kill the man, who is known to police, alongside two teenagers – aged 18 and 19 – in West Hoxton, in Sydney’s west.

Detective Superintendent Jason Box, the commander of Taskforce Falcon, said the alleged plot was not linked to an ongoing conflict between the Alameddine organised crime network and rival group the Coconut Cartel.

Homicide squad detectives last week charged Seeney with being an accessory after the fact to the murder of 40-year-old Joshua Macdonald, who was earlier this month shot dead outside his business partner’s home in a mistaken identity killing.

Police allege she helped the assailants evade capture after leaving the Merrylands West crime scene.
