Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police has finalized an extensive security blueprint for the concluding immersion procession of the Ganesh festivities, set to culminate on Friday, September 25, with the grand Balapur Ganesh procession. While idol immersions have been proceeding peacefully across the city since the third day of celebrations, authorities are bracing for massive crowds converging from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, Future City, and surrounding districts.
A multi-departmental bandobast plan has been rolled out in coordination with GHMC, TSPDCL, HMWS&SB, and the Telangana government to ensure a smooth and incident-free farewell to Lord Ganesha. So far, around 25 lakh devotees have visited the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh, while 15 lakh have visited the Balapur Ganesh, with even bigger turnouts expected on the final day.

Preparations began three months in advance, with Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, holding coordination meetings with idol makers in Dhoolpet and Laxmideviguda, various government departments, and organizing committees.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reviewed arrangements on September 12, followed by a detailed departmental review by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on September 13.
To ensure transparency across the city, an online portal was launched for pandal permissions. Out of 15,426 applications received, 14,929 pandal permissions were granted following physical field verification. All approved pandals have been geotagged, and bilingual (Telugu and English) informational posters detailing fire safety and electrical safety precautions have been affixed at the sites. To date, 32,878 idols from various regions have been successfully immersed, including 6,108 idols belonging to the Hyderabad city limits.
In the last 24 hours alone, 2,161 idols within the city limits were immersed. To facilitate a smooth procession, joint route inspections were completed from Balapur to Hussain Sagar alongside festival committees and departmental officials, completing road repairs, electricity wire adjustments, and tree pruning along the route.
Surveillance for the event is being run through the Telangana State Police Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills, backed by over 10,000 CCTV cameras, 24 drones, and nearly 100 high-rise cameras for crowd monitoring and automated idol counting.
Rooftop personnel with binoculars and wireless sets will stay in constant touch with the control room, while additional control centres at NTR Marg, People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, and Moghalpura Sports Complex will manage relief operations. Divers, rescue boats, generators, watchtowers, ambulances, and fire tenders have all been stationed for emergency response.
On the ground, roughly 20,000 personnel from various police wings will be deployed, reinforced by 42 platoons (8,142 officers) from other districts across seven zones. Four RAF companies will cover sensitive areas like Charminar and Golconda, two CRPF companies will guard Khairatabad and Secunderabad, and 53 bomb detection teams will sweep the city. Following Supreme Court directives, DJ systems, sound mixers, and firecrackers have been banned, with violators facing equipment seizure and legal action.
For women’s safety, 26 SHE Teams operating in shifts have already apprehended 1,172 people for indecent behaviour since September 14. On the final day, 139 Crime Control Scheme personnel and 25 plainclothes teams will patrol for theft and harassment, with women urged to call Dial 112 or the SHE Teams helpline for assistance.
