Police are investigating the death of a man following an assault in Ballymena in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Christopher Houston, also known as Cricki, was found unconscious at the junction of Alexander Street and Broughshane Street just after 05:00 BST on 19 September. He died in hospital on Tuesday night.

Police said the 42-year-old had been the victim of an assault and sustained a head injury.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on Saturday and subsequently released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
