Every year, around 1.5 lakh Ganpati idols made from POP (plaster of Paris) are immersed in Mumbai. But after visarjan, these idols often become festival waste. What if they could have a second life instead?
Through Murticycle technology, around 3,200 kg of broken Ganpati idols have been recycled into 760 school desks for children in Maharashtra. Each table also saves an estimated 5,457 grams of CO₂.
What was once abandoned after visarjan is now helping children learn. The recycled material can also be turned into new products, showing how festival waste can become a resource instead of ending up as waste.
