Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has shared a devastating update with her fans amid her cancer battle.
The actress, 52, who played Maxine Peacock on Coronation Street from 1995 until 2003, announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had been keeping fans updated through social media.
Sharing her excitement at the upcoming appointment, she shared on Instagram: “Found an easy top down for breast checks. With pockets essentially. Surgeon, I’ m coming for you.”
However, soon after, she took to social media again to say she had missed the appointment due to car parking issues in her nearby hospital, and was left devastated by it as she had been really looking forward to this check.
She told fans in a second update: “So, my update is I’m sat in the car park and I missed the appointment. I rang them and they said because it was the first appointment, they’re not sure if the doctor can see me now.
“I arrived really early and I’ve been driving around the car park now for 45 minutes. The advice I was given was, ‘Could you go out and park on the road?’ and I said, ‘The likelihood of me finding a space is so slim.'”
She admitted: “Everyone who knows, or comes to Royal Berkshire Hospital, knows there’s a real problem for finding a space. The anxiety it’s brought up is horrendous and the one appointment I’m looking forward to having, I couldn’t make.
“I haven’t got anyone to drop me off. Luca’s gone back to Uni now. This happens all the time… I was late 45 minutes for chemo, once. Car parks, hey?” Tracy was visibly emotional as she told fans of her plight.
It comes after Tracy admitted she was feeling “absolutely rubbish” in her ongoing cancer battle.
“Phew round 4 hit hard! I’ve chose to show the moments of Joy I experience, hoping they bring light to those in the same position. Amidst this pain and suffering, I’ve had to dig deep into the constant spiritual growth , to creation and its wonders,” she said.
“Knowing what’s coming each cycle doesn’t make it easier, but I’m not panicking, definitely trusting the process , honestly it’s agony , but keeping it in the day. Praying a lot for others. Grateful to have met others to share this journey with, life sisters.”
In the heartbreaking update, she added: “Feeling absolute rubbish at the moment but ‘This too shall pass.'”
Tracy has been updating fans on her chemotherapy and during the recent heatwaves, she said that she was struggling with the heat in the hospital and her lowered immune system.
