Brittany Romano, the childhood friend of Lindsay Clancy and the ‘green dress lady’ who went viral after being seen smiling in court, is speaking out about Patrick Clancy’s first televised interview since his ex-wife’s trial ended in a mistrial.
After Patrick and his new wife, Rachel Danis, gave their first public interview on 60 Minutes, Romano revealed her disappointment at learning almost nothing about the actual case.

Dubbed the ‘Green Dress Lady,’ she attended the proceedings as a journalist with credentials from Vanity Fair, which was reportedly interested in a personal essay about her connection to Lindsay.
The two grew up on the same street, and Romano has described Lindsay as being “like my big sister.” Their families, she said, have been close for decades. After Patrick’s 14-minute interview aired on 60 Minutes, Romano questioned why several subjects were not addressed.
Speaking to Newsweek, the reporter said that Patrick’s interview missed an opportunity to clear the air and raise awareness about postpartum psychosis and mental health. She was quoted as saying:
“I don’t think that the right questions were asked. There was nothing about the malpractice lawsuit, nothing about his testimony, nothing about the timeline of the night, nothing about why he’s speaking nine days before the hearing that decides whether Lindsay is retried or not or if she can move forward.”
Romano, a freelance reporter, said the interview did not sufficiently focus on postpartum mental illness, which she believes should have been central to the conversation. She noted, “The issue was mental health and postpartum psychosis. And I didn’t see any of that there.” The journalist further questioned whether Patrick fully understood postpartum mental illness, saying, “I think that’s evident to everyone… He doesn’t understand what went wrong.”
During his 60 Minutes appearance, Patrick spoke about the deaths of his three children and the lasting impact of the tragedy. He reiterated his belief that Lindsay’s actions were the result of severe mental illness rather than malice. He said:
“I saw headlines that say ‘killer mom’ and ‘baby murderer monster’ and none of them were accurate.”
Patrick also described his own mental health struggles, including suicidal thoughts and a severe panic attack while testifying during the trial. He addressed online conspiracy theories surrounding the case, calling them deeply harmful to his children’s legacy and saying he wanted the focus to remain on postpartum mental illness.
His new wife, Rachel Danis, joined him briefly at the end of the interview. She described Patrick as “the most selfless father and supportive partner.” The couple also revealed they are expecting a baby together.
Romano questioned the purpose of Danis’ appearance, saying she was unsure whether it was intended as moral support or to address public criticism. She also felt the pregnancy announcement seemed awkwardly included in the interview.

She pointed out how the other journalists were smiling beside her, while adding that the death threats came from people who apparently have been defending Clancy. Brittany shared her share of mental struggles during her childhood because of her mother’s bipolar disorder, which was so intense that she had to be removed by DCF.
Brittany’s new insights come as Lindsay’s case continues to draw public attention ahead of a September 29, 2026 hearing to discuss next steps following the mistrial regarding the murder of her three kids.
