VIJAYAWADA: A coach of the Vande Bharat Express (20678) from Narasapur to Chennai developed a hot axle when the train arrived at Vijayawada railway station at around 5.07 pm on Wednesday.
Railway authorities rushed to Coach C4 and found smoke billowing from the hot axle. Technical and safety personnel took necessary measures and restored it to normal status.
South Central Railway’s Vijayawada division authorities provided waiting facilities, drinking water and food for passengers and set up a help desk for assistance. Passengers unwilling to continue their onward journey were facilitated with the refund process, while alternate arrangements were made for those who wanted to continue their journey.
Railway authorities were monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance to passengers.
