Johnny Fisher believes he could set up a high-profile showdown with Dillian Whyte next.
The popular “Romford Bull” fights Michael Pirotton this Saturday at London’s Copper Box Arena, live on Sky Sports.
Fisher is convinced him can put himself in the frame for a big-name opponent. He’s been linked to Deontay Wilder but believes there’s a “good chance” he’ll fight former world title challenger Dillian Whyte next.
“Of course. Why not? That’s a great name. It would be an honour. He’s someone I looked up to when I was coming through the ranks,” Fisher told Sky Sports.
“He’s given us some great nights. I’m sure he would be a great bit of excitement for the Romford Bull Army.”
He added: “That’s a big name fight. These guys have had fantastic careers in their own right. There’s no bones about the fact that they’re coming to the ends of their careers. That’s why it probably works proportionally to fight someone like me now. Because one, I’ve got a big profile but two, so have they.
“The appeal for me and my fanbase is fighting them guys because they’ve got bigger names, the Wilders and the Dillian Whytes. I’ve got a good chance of getting someone like Dillian Whyte, I really do think.”
Fisher is a hard puncher, while former world champion Deontay Wilder is a famously hard hitter. Just the prospect of putting them together generates headlines.

Pirotton discusses why he feels more ready than ever to take on Fisher and discusses what he’ll need to do to take the win
“I’ve had a lot of people this week talking to me about fighting Deontay Wilder. Listen I would never call on that myself. I wouldn’t be that disrespectful to someone of the level of Deontay Wilder,” Fisher reflected.
“But of course I know the physicality and the physics of how heavyweight boxing works. If you connect as a 17.5 stone man on someone’s chin, you’ve always got a chance and who am I to turn down an opportunity like that and not talk about it, because it’s amazing.”
Fisher is hoping to put on a more cultured display of his boxing when he fights Pirotton this Saturday. He’s been working diligently with new trainer Tony Sims to that end.

“I’m a heavyweight boxer and first and foremost I’m an aggressive, front-foot, combination-punching heavyweight and I’ve got to do that and that’s me,” he said.
“I can refine that and add to that with what Tony’s teaching me. But the big thing that Tony’s speaking to me about is don’t lose what you naturally are. Which is an aggressive come-forward fighter. We can add bits to it but you’ve got to be that.
“Physically I can use my dominant explosive self in a good way against him.”
