Cindy Crawford and her husband were “fighting to keep Presley alive” before his sad death. Presley died aged just 27 over the weekend, following a suspected overdose.
He had been receiving treatment at a luxury rehabilitation facility when he died. Over the years, Presley had been extremely open about his battles with his mental health, as well as substance abuse.
But now, sources claim that Cindy and her husband, Rande, attempted to help Presley. Reports claim that he was “getting high” before entering the rehabilitation facility. Reports claim that people were concerned in the lead-up to Presley checking in, saying he was “really thin and pale, his face was gaunt.”
Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source claimed: “Both his parents made him go to rehab because they knew he was using. They were not going to give up on him, so they tried another rehab centre. They had so much hope. He was in and out of rehab all the time; they spent a fortune to try to get him to fly right.”
The source went on to add: “They are helicopter parents, they are super involved, they did not drop the ball here. They pushed and pushed for him to get better. No one can blame them. They did their research and felt they were doing the right thing.”
While Presley had said in March that he had undergone experimental ibogaine flood treatment in Mexico to combat his substance abuse, it’s claimed he started using drugs again this summer. His parents reportedly feared that he would get a “bad cocktail of drugs,” which could cost him his life.
The source added: “They worried about fentanyl and had many discussions about it. This absolutely was an issue for them, and they were fighting to keep him alive.”
The County of Los Angeles Public Health states that there had been 2,298 accidental drug overdoses and poisoning deaths last year. Evidence from the Data Report – Fentanyl Overdoses in Los Angeles County states that fentanyl had been a “major driver of accidental overdose deaths”. But last year, the proportion of accidental deaths involving fentanyl dropped to 49 per cent, from the highest record of 64 per cent in 2023.
A 911 dispatch call disclosed that prior to his death, Presley went into cardiac arrest following an overdose. The initial call was made at 9.35am on Sunday regarding a cardiac arrest. However, just three minutes later, the priority was upgraded to an overdose. At 9.40am, the priority was once again “upgraded”.
Santa Monica Police Department said that emergency services were called to a luxury rehabilitation facility where Presley had been staying on Sunday morning. He was sadly pronounced dead on the scene.
In a statement, they said: “On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased.”
They went on to add: “‘SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner have not determined Presley’s official cause of death yet. However, the autopsy has been completed, allowing for Presley’s body to be released.
