Katie Price has revealed that just months after being banned from driving for the seventh time, she’s set to get her licence back and has already completed the paperwork
Just months after being banned from driving again, Katie Price is gearing up to get behind the wheel. The former glamour model, 48, was slapped with her seventh ban this year.
A Ford Capri, registered in Katie’s name, was seen driving at 80mph near the North Yorkshire village of Sutton, on the A64. Local police wrote to Katie at her home in West Sussex, asking her to confirm whether she was the driver.
She, however, failed to respond to the letter and was prosecuted and convicted of failing to respond, which saw her slapped with a six-month driving ban and a legal bill costing £1,000. Katie has previously received driving bans totalling more than six years after she was first disqualified from driving in 2010.
Now, she has spoken about getting her licence back. During the latest episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, the star said: “Not long til I get my driving licence.” Katie disclosed that there had been concerns from a “third party” that Katie “shouldn’t be driving under medical grounds”.
She went on to add: “[I] filled out the forms, took it to my doctors, and they couldn’t believe it. ‘Why does this all happen to you?’ I’m like ‘I know!’
“Anyway, so they’ve now written back with the application form, the green form to fill out, so I know the date I should be getting it back. I’m looking in the postbox as if it’s Christmas Eve or Harry Potter, waiting to see what’s in the post to get my lucky token!
“Waiting for their answer to then try and get insurance—even on a Fiat 500, anything! Golf buggy, I don’t care. Quad bike, whatever’s the cheapest insurance, whatever they can get me in. I can’t wait. A moped, anything! Just get me on that road.”
But while many in Katie’s position would want a fancy car, she says she “doesn’t care” what she drives. “I’m a petrol head, you know I love my flash cars,” she said, adding: “But again, I just have to have what I can have because no one will insure me. But I don’t care. I just want to go from A to B, shopping, sunbed, nails, hair and visit mum, in that order basically.”
In December 2010, she was banned for six months after admitting to speeding. She was disqualified for a year in 2012 after failing to respond to speeding tickets, and she received another six-month ban in February 2018 after being caught speeding.
In January 2019, she appeared in court again to admit driving while disqualified, resulting in a three-month ban. And just a month later, she was convicted by a judge of being drunk in charge of a vehicle when it was seen by police to veer off the road and hit a grass verge.
Price claimed that a mystery man had been at the wheel and left the scene before officers arrived, but a judge concluded her evidence was “not plausible”.
Later in 2019, Price was convicted of failing to disclose the name of the driver following a car crash, which led to her receiving an 18-month road ban.
And in 2021, a judge condemned Price for “one of the worst driving records I have ever seen”, as she was given a 16-week suspended prison sentence for drink-driving while disqualified and without insurance.
She flipped her car and told the police at the time that she had consumed drugs and “should not be driving”. This incident landed her with a two-year ban, 100 hours of community service, and up to 30 rehabilitation sessions. District Judge Amanda Kelly told Price at the time that she appeared to think she was “above the law”.
Two years ago, Price was fined £880 for driving without a licence and insurance in Northamptonshire, but she was spared a ban for those offences.
