Alison Hammond has made a rare comment about her younger boyfriend, David Puttnam, who she has been with for three years, revealing just how strong their relationship is
Alison Hammond has opened up about her relationship with David Puttnam – who is 22 years younger than her. The pair, who are 51 and 29, have been together since 2023.
While Alison is an ITV and Channel 4 presenter, recently returning to screens with The Great British Bake Off, David is a model and massage therapist. The two live together in a house just outside of Birmingham.
Alison has previously said very little about her relationship with David, save for a few comments about how things are going “really, really, well”, but in a recent interview, she lifted the lid a little further.
Talking to the Daily Mail, Alison said: “I’ve always had issues with my boyfriends, this one I don’t. We get on really well. We love each other. I never have to worry and second guess how he feels about me. He’s wonderful.”
She cheekily added that they have “lovely holidays” where they are “kissing a lot” and that she gets “a lot of massages”, noting that her masseuse boyfriend has “healing hands”.
But, when it came to talking about their future, Alison got serious and said that if he wanted children in the coming years, she wouldn’t be able to provide that. As such, she wouldn’t get in his way if that was something he wanted to pursue. She added that she felt marriage was “archaic” and because she had no desire to “belong to anyone” or to change her name, she “might get engaged” but would not get hitched.
Alison and David first met when she booked a massage from him. The sparks flew instantly and they soon started dating. But this soon garnered attention due to their age gap. Addressing this with Good Housekeeping, Alison said: “I can see how on paper you’d notice the age difference. Yes, I am 22 years older than he is. But if you saw us together, you’d understand. People have said to me, ‘We get it now.'”
Alison, who first came to fame as a contestant on Big Brother and has since become one of the UK’s most recognisable TV stars, was previously in a relationship with Noureddine Boufaied. The two were engaged and share a son Aidan, 21. But their engagement ended in 2014.
Speaking on This Morning about the split, Alison said: “I felt that failure with my son’s dad when we broke up but he moved on and has three other kids now and they are part of our life.”
She has maintained a positive co-parenting relationship with Noureddine and often speaks fondly of him. Their son, Aiden, has since started DJing, and starting in 2024 when he landed a festival gig. He is said to have given his mum’s relationship with David his wholehearted approval.
