Hyderabad: The Iranian Embassy in Hyderabad has weighed in on X after Iran’s embassy in Zimbabwe mocked US President Donald Trump with a clip of Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna from the film Bhagavanth Kesari, which it described as a Bollywood movie.
Sharing the same video, the Hyderabad mission wrote that Bhagavanth Kesari defends against enemies without bullets and, unlike Trump, does not resort to threats. “Telugu movies are GOAT,” the caption added.
The exchange began when Trump, addressing the United Nations, listed the achievements of his presidency and then turned to Iran, offering it two options: annihilation or negotiation. Tehran’s mission in Zimbabwe replied with a clip from the Telugu film, featuring a scene of heavy firepower, from Bhagavanth Kesari, in a bid to signal that Iran is far from defenceless.
However, the embassy’s social media team labelled it a Bollywood film because the dialogues were in Hindi. The handlers of the account apparently did not realise the mix-up, but the post had drawn much attention online and Balakrishna has now become a topic of conversation amid the US -Iran war much to the delight of Balayya’s fans.
