Katie Price has expressed her relief at son Harvey‘s newfound weight loss after her eldest child reached a whopping 28-stone. The 24-year old, who was fathered by former footballer, Dwight Yorke, suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome – a rare genetic condition that causes a wide range of physical symptoms, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
Mum-of-five Katie is no stranger to documenting Harvey’s health in the public eye, revealing how he struggles with constant hunger issues – another symptom of his illness that affects around one in 1 in 10,000 to 30,000 people. As a consequence, Harvey is morbidly obese, prompting 48-year-old Katie to admit she feared he’d “end up dying of a heart attack” earlier this year.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Katie Price Show – a podcast she presents with her sister, Sophie – she revealed: “He’s started Mounjaro because I told you he’s lost two stone. And I can really see him here [points to stomach] losing weight.”
“That’s great,” enthused Sophie in response.
Katie first opened up on Harvey’s weight loss plans last month. Again, speaking on the podcast, she said: “Harvey is starting the Mounjaro. I can’t wait.
“Then he can do the rollercoasters, he can do more, walk more and have more energy. To be obese you need to have a BMI of 27. Harvey’s is 59, so way up – he’s morbidly obese.”
The former glamour model added: “So he needs it for his health. This isn’t for looks, it’s for a better quality of life for him.”
Meanwhile, appearing on Andrew Gold’s Heretics podcast, she previosuly told the host: “I’m not worried about his [Harvey] eyesight. What I’m worried about is him having a heart attack, his obesity. He weight just under 30 stone.”
And on the subject of Harvey starting a course of Mounjaro, she added: “It’s easy for me to just give it, but because of his other medications, you have to have all the team tick it off. It’s getting to a point now, where he doesn’t want to walk anywhere, he gets out of breath and sweats and they have said he is at high risk of having a heart attack.
“You try to [force him to walk] but he literally breaks into a sweat. I bathe him twice a day and it breaks my heart seeing him get in and out of the bath because he’s so big and heavy.”
Katie first alluded to Harvey’s Mounjaro jounrey when he relocated to adult residential care in January.
“Things are definitely going to change for Harvey when we move ‘cos although he’s moving to adult residential, he’s also going to be starting the Mounjaro where we can keep an eye on it,” she said at the time.
“So he’ll be losing weight. It’s just a completely different life away from college.”
