AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday kicked off his campaign for the Madhuranthagam by-poll, with a plea to the people to teach a lesson to the ‘betrayers who left the party for money’. The MLA (Maragadham Kumaravel) did not have loyalty to the AIADMK and left it in 12 days to join another party in five minutes, he said.
Addressing people from his vehicle at Mamandur, he said the by-poll was imposed on the people through horse-trading of his party MLA Maragadham Kumaravel. He alleged that the TVK indulged in horse-trading to protect its government. It was not a bold act to buy an elected MLA, he added.
The elected AIADMK MLA did not have loyalty to the party and she did not respect the people who had voted for her. She left the party due to greed for money and joined another party, the former Chief Minister said, asking the people to teach her a lesson.
The AIADMK leader said the TVK leader ran away from Karur after the stampede and did not come out for 72 days. Mr Palaniswami asked how such a person could protect the people. The second line leaders too were hiding themselves and one of them ran away to another State, he said.
He said the Karur stampede is being investigated by the CBI under the supervision of the Supreme Court. After the report is out, it would be known whether the TVK would be in the State or not. The AIADMK leader criticised that Joseph Vijay did not go to the houses of people who lost their lives and instead they were called to his house.
The TVK government is facing protests every day and the State is facing issues of power outages and price rise. He questioned why the Chief Minister went to London to sign MoUs with firms who are in Tamil Nadu.
He said the people should vote for the AIADMK candidate Kanitha Sampath to teach a lesson to the betrayers. The AIADMK candidate was an MLA in Madhuranthagam and she knows the constituency fully, he said, requesting the people to vote for ‘Two Leaves’ in the October 6 by-polls.
