NIZAMABAD: A youth drowned in Kudi Cheruvu water tank at Domakonda mandal headquarters during Ganesh idol immersion on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Lingari Naveen, 18, of Iipet village in Domakonda mandal.
According to sources, Ganesh idol immersion was under way when Patthi Naresh and Naveen tried to remove iron plates from the idols after immersion.
Naveen accidentally drowned and did not return to the surface. Naresh alerted locals, following which police and a rescue team reached the spot and recovered Naveen’s body from the tank.
Domakonda police registered a case and are investigating.
