Dakota Johnson has said it was “absolutely glorious” starring in Taylor Swift’s new music video. Earlier this week the the pop star, 36, announced that she is set to release her first single since marrying NFL star Travis Kelce in July.
The track, titled Patient Zero, will drop on Friday and will be followed by an accompanying video which will premiere at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.
It stars Irish actor Colin Farrell, 50, and US actress Johnson, 36. Speaking at the London premiere of her new film Verity, Johnson shared details about working with Swift.
She said: “Taylor and I have been really good friends for a long time, and we’re constantly talking about work and art and life, and you know we just ended up making this together, and it was absolutely glorious.”
On Thursday Swift shared a teaser clip of the music video, with several scenes showing Johnson. In one, Johnson stares angrily at Farrell while Swift struts towards the camera.
US actress Johnson is best known for starring in the Fifty Shades Of Grey franchise and The Materialists, while Irish actor Farrell is known for The Banshees Of Inisherin as well as The Batman.
The video follows Swift’s star-studded video for Opalite, which she released in February and featured cameos from celebrity guests who appeared alongside her on The Graham Norton Show.
Irish presenter Norton was among the line-up along with actor Cillian Murphy, singer Lewis Capaldi, About Time star Domhnall Gleeson, as well as actresses Greta Lee and Jodie Turner-Smith.
Directed by Swift, the video marked the singer’s return to the chart summit and secured her a sixth number one single. Verity is released in cinemas on October 2.
Sharing their excitement on social media, Swifties said they cannot wait for Sunday. One wrote on X, “Saving the date, no distractions that night.”
Another tweeted, “It’s giving cinema and I am here for it.” A third posted, “Ohhhh myyyy…. This is so good already, I’m excited.” One more shared, “OMG TAYLOR WHAT.” Someone else posted, “So beautiful cannot wait.”
One more excited fan added, “Omg omg omg omg omg TAYLOR you didn’t have to go THIS HARD OMG.” And another person added, “I’m absolutely gagged, these visuals are STUNNING!! I can’t wait for the #VMAs.”
Patient Zero will be Taylor’s first single since she released I Knew It, I Knew You this summer in association with Toy Story 5.
