Hyderabad: The police in tri-commissionerates maintained tight security for the peaceful conduct of the immersion of Ganesh idols from Balapur to Tank Bund. A constant vigil is being maintained with high resolution cameras and drones all along the procession route for the fast movement of vehicles towards Tank Bund.
The police department deployed as many as 28,000 personnel for the smooth conduct of the immersion. It is using 10,000 CCTVS to maintain constant vigil all along the procession route covering 18 kms from Balapur to Hussainsagar. This is in addition to 100 high resolution cameras around Hussaisanagar. Surveillance is also maintained using 24 drones.
The district administration had set up 40 cranes for immersion of idols in Hussainsagar. The traffic police imposed traffic restrictions to ensure smooth passage to vehicles carrying Ganesh idols and the restrictions were expected to be continued till Saturday evening.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar personally supervised the security arrangements since morning. He visited the towering Khairatabad Ganesh idol and enquired about the immersion process.
He later visited Tank Bund and its surroundings and reviewed the arrangements.
