Vismaya Mohanlal is quickly adding to her acting slate. Following her debut in Thudakkam, the actor is set to headline an upcoming film directed by Arun Bose, best known for films such as Luca and Marivillin Gopurangal. The project is being produced jointly by Shenuga, Shegna and Sherga under the S Cube Films banner.
The film marks another female-led venture for the production house, which has previously backed projects including Uyare and Janaki Jaane. While details about Vismaya’s character and the plot are being kept under wraps for now, the combination of the actor and the writing team has already made the project one to watch.
Two acclaimed writing forces come together
The screenplay has been co-written by Ratheena, who directed Puzhu and Paathirathri, and the writer duo Suhas-Sharfu. The duo has previously collaborated on films including Varathan, Virus and Rifle Club. Their involvement points to a project that brings together filmmakers with distinctly different approaches to storytelling.
Ratheena made her directorial debut with Puzhu, starring Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu, before following it up with Paathirathri. Suhas-Sharfu, meanwhile, have established themselves as one of Malayalam cinema’s prominent writing partnerships, with credits spanning genres and subjects.
The technical crew features several familiar names from contemporary Malayalam cinema. Samuel Henry has been signed as the cinematographer, while Mahesh Bhuvanend will handle the editing. Hesham Abdul Wahab, whose music credits include several successful Malayalam films in recent years, will compose the score and songs. Production design is being handled by Ashik S.
Arun Bose expands his filmography
For Arun Bose, the project marks his latest feature after a series of films exploring different shades of relationships and human drama. He made his directorial debut with Luca, the 2019 romantic drama starring Tovino Thomas and Ahaana Krishna. He subsequently directed Marivillin Gopurangal and Mindiyum Paranjum.
The filmmaker is now stepping into a new collaboration with Vismaya, who is at the beginning of what could be an interesting acting journey. The actor made her debut with Thudakkam, which introduced her to Malayalam cinema as a performer.
