Karimnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Metpally, Daroju Padma, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.63,000 from a complainant on Saturday.
According to ACB police, the CDPO had allegedly demanded bribes from Anganwadi centres in return for showing officials favour and not making adverse remarks during inspections.
She had allegedly been demanding Rs.1,000 per month from each Anganwadi centre. There are 21 centres in Metpally urban mandal, taking the demand for three months to Rs.63,000.
Unable to pay the bribe, the complainant approached ACB officials, who laid a trap and caught the CDPO while accepting the amount outside her office.
She was later produced before the Special Judge for Special Police Establishment (SPE) & ACB cases, Karimnagar.
