Vikarabad: Panic has gripped villages near Basireddypally in Parigi mandal of Vikarabad district after a tiger attacked and killed a cow at a goshala.
According to reports, organisers of the Krishnagiri Temple goshala said a tiger had attacked the cattle. They said a calf was taken by the tiger three days ago, while a cow was attacked recently.
A worker looking after the cattle spotted the tiger attacking the cow and raised an alarm. The tiger then fled the spot. The cow sustained severe injuries and later died.
The goshala organisers lodged a complaint with the police and forest officials. Forest officials identified CCTV cameras installed near a farmhouse adjacent to the goshala, which captured the tiger attacking the cow.
The organisers said there are nearly 20 cows at the goshala and urged the forest officials to capture the tiger and release it into the forest to protect the remaining cattle.
With villagers expressing concern over the tiger’s presence, forest and police officials launched an operation to track and capture the animal.
