Hyderabad: The family of 42-year-old entrepreneur Deepthi Reddy Madugula, wife of film-maker Pradeep Advaitham, donated her heart, liver and two kidneys after she was declared brain dead, helping four patients in need of organ transplants.
According to Jeevandan, the state organ and tissue transplant organisation (SOTTO), Deepthi Reddy developed a headache on September 22 and subsequently suffered an intracranial bleed.
She was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for emergency treatment but was declared brain dead on September 26.
Her husband, Pradeep Reddy, consented to donate her organs.
Her heart, liver and two kidneys were retrieved for transplantation.
A resident of Manikonda, Deepthi Reddy was an entrepreneur and founder of We Aim and Womenergy. She was also associated with environment-friendly businesses and social initiatives.
Pradeep Advaitham has directed films including ‘Advaitham’, ‘Billa Ranga’ and ‘Champion’.
The family’s decision to donate her organs will give four patients an opportunity to undergo life-saving transplants, SOTTO said.
