NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy’s senior leadership will review operational preparedness and the protection of India’s maritime interests, including energy security amid the West Asia conflict, at a three-day conference beginning September 29 in New Delhi.
The second edition of the Navy’s biannual commanders’ conference will be held at Nausena Bhawan until October 1. Defence minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. N.S. Raja Subramani and Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan will attend. Army Chief Gen. Dhiraj Seth is also expected to interact with the commanders.
The conference will bring together senior naval leaders, including operational and area commanders posted outside Delhi, to review preparedness and engage with senior government officials, a Navy spokesperson said.
The discussions will cover the Navy’s role in safeguarding maritime interests and energy security amid the conflicts in West Asia. The spokesperson also referred to the Navy’s ongoing Operation Urja Suraksha.
Singh will address the commanders on the opening day. The Chief of Defence Staff and the Army Chief will discuss coordination and integration among the three services.
On the following days, the Navy Chief and commanders-in-chief will review operations, equipment, logistics, personnel and training. They will also discuss the induction of artificial intelligence, big-data analysis, autonomous systems and cyber capabilities.
The leadership will assess force levels and combat readiness in keeping with the Navy’s stated priorities of jointness, self-reliance and innovation, the spokesperson said.
