Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two made its return to screens tonight, featuring new host Ellie Taylor, but fans believe she should be presenting the main show
Strictly Come Dancing fans have given their verdict on Ellie Taylor after the comedian made her debut as the new host of the spin-off show, It Takes Two.
Ellie took over from professional dancer Janette Manrara and former contestant and singer Fleur East as the anchor of the new show. Following the first live programme of the main show this weekend, It Takes Two made its return – and fans were not disappointed.
Kicking off the show, Ellie promised “some changes” before sharing a funny round-up of what happened in the ballroom on Saturday night. She later chatted to the panel, including last year’s winner and Lioness, Karen Carney, as well as Strictly: Lights Up hosts, Abi Clarke and Tyler West.
Ellie also spoke to this year’s contestants, Delta Goodrem, Chris Appleton and Jaime Winstone. However, fans of the show instantly believed that Ellie should be fronting the main programme, which is now hosted by Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe.
One fan wrote on social media: “Ellie on #ItTakesTwo is refreshing and a nice surprise. Can she please do a swap and come and do the Saturday night shows…she’s MILES better than Josh and JoJo!!”
Another penned: “Ellie Taylor is doing so well. She’s come in and not only had to fill one pair of shoes but two! She’s carrying a week-long show on her own. Im really enjoying strictly and takes two so far, even if it is only week 1.”
While a third typed: “5 minutes of watching It Takes Two, and it’s clear they should have just got Ellie Taylor presenting the main show with Emma.” “Ellie Taylor should be doing the main Saturday show,” commented a fourth.
Another said: “Zoe Ball and Claudia did it by themselves for years and it worked perfectly well back then, so I was delighted to see the show go back to its roots. Plus, Ellie Taylor was magnificent!”
Ellie was revealed as the new presenter during Emma Willis’ BBC Radio 2 programme last month. Speaking to Emma, she said: “I’m absolutely over the moon.”
Meanwhile, in a statement sharing the news, she added: “What a total joy to return to Strictly in this new role. I feel incredibly honoured to follow in the footsteps of the phenomenal line-up of hosts who’ve made Strictly: It Takes Two so loved over the years.
“I can’t wait to immerse myself in all the gossip and sequins flying out of the ballroom in order to bring my fellow Strictly fans everything they need to know. I’m so excited, I could cha cha! (But I won’t – don’t worry… no one needs to see that again).”
Ellie previously competed on the programme during the 20th series in 2022, partnered with Graziano Di Prima. However, they were eliminated in ninth place, with Hamza Yassin eventually winning the series with professional dancer Jowita Przystał.
