Hyderabad: In continuation of the investigation into the disproportionate (DA) case registered against NIMS Additional Medical Superintendent Dr N Laxmi Bhaskar, searches are being conducted at five houses of NIMS employees since morning.
During these searches, Rs.7 lakh cash was recovered from Dhanraj, who is barber of NIMS. Land documents and money trail are being verified at all five locations.
The ACB registered DA case against Bhaskar, a resident of Kalpataru apartments in Erragadda, as he has acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.
As it is an offence punishable under Sections 13(1) (b) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act-1988, searches were conducted on September 22 at his residence and seven other places belonging to his relatives, friends, benamis, and other associates.
During the searches, documents relating to one four bed room flat in high rise gated community, two triple bed room flats in high rise gated community in Kukatpally, five double room flats at Manikonda, Petbasheerbad, and Kukatpally, four open plots at Yadadri, Nandigama and Shamirpet and one 800 square yards open plot in Visakhapatnam, bank balances of Rs.41 lakh, deposits in post office of Rs.12 lakh, investment in private financial institutions of Rs.35 lakh, investments in mutual funds of Rs.29.55 lakh, gold ornaments weight about 517.8 grams, four wheelers – one Jaguar, one Audi, one car, four two wheelers of Royal Enfield, Vespa, Activa, Yamaha, electronic gadjets worth of Rs.5 lakh. The total worth of assets is Rs.6.13 crore. The market value of movable and immovable property may be many times higher than the document value, the ACB said.
Further, it is learnt that, he has invested an amount of Rs.1.30 crore to purchase a flat which was in dispute before the DRT. Another Rs.1.33 crore lent by him to various persons as hand loans.
