Ravi Kishan is stepping into unfamiliar territory, and it looks like it’s going to be worth watching. The actor is set to headline a yet-untitled Hindi devotional drama presented by Mahaveer Jain Films, taking on a rare full-fledged leading role after years of memorable supporting turns.
The timing couldn’t be better. Ravi has been on a solid run lately, between his part in Mirzapur: The Movie and his widely praised performance in Laapataa Ladies. This new project marks his second outing with Mahaveer Jain Films, following Naagzilla, but the space couldn’t be more different this time around. The entire narrative rests squarely on his shoulders.
Written and directed by Amit Aarryan, the film digs into a man’s relationship with his faith, though not in the usual sense. The protagonist doesn’t just worship God from a distance. He treats Him like a friend, someone he shares an almost personal, everyday bond with. It’s an interesting lens for a devotional story, and one that promises to lean more on warmth than ritual.
The makers are keen on keeping things light and accessible too. Rather than a conventional devotional drama, expect a mix of humour, emotion and spirituality stitched together into something the whole family can sit down and watch.
This also comes at a busy time for Mahaveer Jain Films. The banner recently dropped the title track for Yeh Prem Mol Liya and announced RamBola, helmed by Hanuman Ansh director Vishal Chaturvedi. Clearly, concept-driven storytelling is becoming something of a signature for them.
The film is backed by Mahaveer Jain Films’ Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Vinayak Kumar, Kavin Shah and Shikha K Ahluwalia, alongside RatPack Stories’ Vijay Subramanium and Kshitij Mehta. It’s expected to go on floors in January, with the title still being finalised before an official announcement drops.
