BOSTON — Braden Schneider was naturally grateful to re-sign with the Rangers this summer, because it’s the only team he’s known and the one he hopes to stay with long term.
More than that, it meant the 25-year-old defenseman would get another shot at a role with the Blueshirts and a chance to rectify his reputation in New York following a couple of tough seasons.
“I felt last season — I don’t want that to be the season that is thought of of me,” Schneider told The Post before the Rangers opened the season on the road against the Bruins on Tuesday night. “Because I think there’s a whole lot more in the tank. I’m really excited for the new opportunity, and I’m really looking forward and happy to be here and help this team win.”
The future has never been more uncertain for Schneider as he enters his sixth NHL season.
