Vijayawada: The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh, extending the deadline for disposal of claims and objections to October 10 and the publication of the final electoral rolls to October 16.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, AP Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav said draft electoral rolls were published in all Assembly constituencies on July 31. As per the earlier schedule, claims and objections were to be disposed of by October 5 and the final electoral rolls published on October 9.
However, in view of the pending hearings on no-mapping and logical discrepancy cases in some Assembly constituencies, as well as the pending disposal of applications received through Forms 6, 7 and 8, the Election Commission extended the deadlines. The move is aimed at ensuring that no eligible elector is inadvertently excluded from the electoral rolls, he said.
