The Stree franchise has seen one of the most remarkable journeys in the genre of horror-comedy. With just the first two movies, the franchise has grossed over Rs. 1,400 crores worldwide. Under a budget of Rs. 25 crores, Stree (2018) grossed over Rs. 350 crores worldwide, with Stree 2: Sarkata Ka Atras (2024) making over Rs. 870 crores worldwide with a production cost of just Rs. 60 crores.
Stree has always been a fan favourite, hosting a powerhouse of big names and talents such as Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Vijay Raaz, and many others. Now fans will have a reason to rejoice, almost two years later, with Producer Dinesh Vijan confirming that Stree 3 is set to release in 2028. During an event attended by Dinesh Vijan and Rajkummar Rao, they were asked questions about Stree.
No details have been revealed about the film to any degree, but Vijan did mention the completion of the script. He said, “Stree 3 arrives in 2028. If I say anything more, he (Amar Kaushik) will get upset with me because he just finished writing it. He thinks that I give out too many spoilers, but everything that you have loved about it, you’ll get it.”
He further goes on to mention the time of year that would be most suitable for this big release. He continued, “But where it starts and where it ends will be a complete revelation. So, I think it might be a nice Independence Day or a Christmas Day present in 2028.”

Rajkummar Rao began to reminisce about the older times, recalling days from the shoot for the original film. He said, “It was amazing. We started as an independent small-budget film, but we all had great faith in the story, and the way Amar was on set.” Rajkummar continued, “He is like us, so we all were like ‘laundas’ (young boys) on set. We were just cracking jokes and trying to make this wonderful film with each other, and I think that energy is very much visible on the screen, and that’s exactly what happened with Stree 2.”
Stree franchise falls under the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe alongside some other notable hits such as Bhediya, Munjya, and Thamma, among others.
