Visakhapatnam:Students from six colleges and four hostels across the city participated in a week-long series of competitions organised by Disha Vidyarthi Sangam (Disha) and Naujawan Bharat Sabha (NBS) to commemorate freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary.
The celebrations concluded with a prize distribution ceremony at AVN College on Thursday.
Girl students formed a majority of the participants.
The events included essay-writing competitions on the impact of climate change, public-speaking contests on ensuring education and employment for all, selfie-video presentations on lessons from Bhagat Singh’s life, AI-generated videos depicting key events from his life, and current affairs quizzes.
Prizes were presented to the winners of competitions held at colleges and hostels across the city for over a week.
Addressing the gathering, NBS coordinator N Sujan urged students and youths to draw inspiration from Bhagat Singh’s ideals. He said education should help them understand society and empower them to challenge situations of injustice, inequality and irregularities around them.
Chief guest and journalist Aruna encouraged students to remain connected with society and use their knowledge to drive social transformation. AVN College principal K Krishnakumari said Bhagat Singh’s courage and commitment to social change should inspire today’s youth.
