We have a busy day’s racing on Friday with action from Ascot, Hexham, Newcastle and Wolverhampton, live on Sky Sports Racing…
3.35 Ascot – Rapid Improver Infraad takes on Galiyan
An excellent field of six has assembled for this Listed Noel Murless Stakes where Infraad bids to continue the winning thread.
William Haggas’ three-year-old has improved through the season winning a useful handicap at Goodwood before taking the Melrose at York with aplomb. He steps up into Listed grade but will be expected to go close under Tom Marquand.
Galiyan brings in some solid credentials and matches Infraad with an official rating of 106. He has been highly tried since winning a Chester maiden and wasn’t disgraced when fifth in the St Leger last month.
Melrose and Haydock second Galilean Quality rates the pick of the remainder.
5.25 Wolverhampton – Handicap newcomer Enchanted Queen faces four rivals
George Boughey and Billy Loughnane team up with handicap debutant Enchanted Queen for a trappy renewal of the bet365 Fillies’ Handicap at Wolverhampton.
An easy winner of a Kempton novice on his first start for the yard, he steps up in distance as he tackles handicaps off a mark of 84.
The Roger Varian-trained Bintaziza looks the chief threat under Ray Dawson. Having scored on her first couple of outings on the all-weather, she suffered defeat at Thirsk. Sent off only 9-1 for the Sandringham in June, she has not been seen since and should have more to give.
2.48 Hexham – Moveit Like Minnie and Banderas contest feature
The main event on a quality Friday afternoon at Hexham sees Moveit Like Minnie top a field of seven for this Jewson Hexham Handicap Hurdle.
The Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies-trained mare landed an eighth career victory at Wincanton in March before ending the campaign down the field in a quality Plumpton heat. She returns from a break in a lesser heat and could defy topweight for a team who have been among the winners.
Banderas was successful over two miles here back in May and he must be feared if handling the dip in distance under this six-pound higher mark.
Winds Of Winter and Double Digits complete the shortlist.
Best of the rest
William Buick, James Doyle, Colin Keane, Tom Marquand and Kieran Shoemark all in action.
2.25 Ascot – Hot novice with Pink Larkspur among five runners.
4.10 Ascot – Excellent 0-105 handicap over six-furlongs. Wiltshire, Pilu, Far Above Dream and Fandom feature.
3.00 Ascot – Classified with Drymee and Hygge sure to be popular. Gordon Elliott trains the latter.
5.45 Newcastle – Fair fillies’ novice with Always Sunny and Noozhaa catching the attention. The latter is a half-sister to Meydaan.
12.43 Saint-Cloud – Group Three with eight runners.
Saint-Cloud – Four Listed races including 3.38 – Osin Murphy rides Zgharta.
10.16 Keeneland – Grade One Darley Alcibiades Stakes where Emphatic and Summer Starlet are among eight runners.
