Giants looking close to full strength for Week 4 against Cardinals

The Giants starting offensive line wasn’t whole at Friday’s practice but not because left tackle Andrew Thomas was missing again.

Thomas (groin) practiced in a limited capacity after sitting out the previous two days, while center John Michael Schmitz (personal reasons) was absent and replaced by Bryan Hudson during the media viewing period.

Schmitz is expected to rejoin teammates in time for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. Thomas is planning to play too.

In fact, the Giants didn’t list a single player as questionable, doubtful or out on Friday’s injury report.

Thomas could be headed for the old Plaxico Burress Plan of staying off his feet as much as needed to be ready for game days. In other words, don’t panic too much based on his weekly Wednesday/Thursday statuses.

“Was that the year that the Giants won it all?” Thomas asked The Post. “I hope the same thing happens.”

The secondary should be whole again too.

Safety Tyler Nubin (calf) and CB Deonte Banks (calf) were full practice participants for the first time this week after missing last game.

The Giants have done something different with their three backup running backs each of the last three weeks: Najee Harris was inactive in Week 1, all three were active in Week 2 and Devin “Motor” Singletary was a healthy scratch in Week 3.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. has remained active because of kick-return value, but WR Charlie Jones offers that now.

Tracy, who fumbled in Week 1, progressed from not practicing Wednesday to limited Thursday to full Friday.

How does Harbaugh decide who to declare as RB4 on a week-to-week basis?

“It’s probably based on what you feel like gives you the best chance [to win],” Harbaugh said. “Some of it’s probably the game plan, sure, the matchup. The other part of it’s probably the development of Najee as he’s been here more now and is in better game shape. Of course, Motor is Motor. He’s consistent. And then Trace has done a good job. He’s been practicing really well. All those guys we’re happy with. We like them when they’re on the field.”

OG/C Kendrick Green, a 2021 third-round pick, was signed to the practice squad. He played in one game for the Browns last season.
