Greece 0-0 Germany: Report, result and goals as Klopp fails to win for third time in four games

Germany failed to win for the third time in four games under Jurgen Klopp as they were held to a 0-0 draw with Greece.

Klopp’s side failed to build on their 2-0 win over Serbia earlier this week as they once again failed to score against Greece, with Die Mannschaftt left in third in their Nations League group.

Germany facing relegation threat

Greece had almost taken the lead inside two minutes, with Giorgos Masouras’ header brilliantly saved by Jonas Urbig.

Germany had responded with sustained pressure, with Florian Wirtz and Derry Scherhant both going close before Konstantinos Tzolakis denied David Raum with an excellent save.

Germany had eventually found the breakthrough through Jonathan Burkardt in the 33rd minute, but the goal was controversially ruled out after a VAR review for a handball in the build-up.

The visitors had continued to dominate possession and chances, with Scherhant, Lennart Karl and Wirtz all threatening as Greece struggled to escape their own half.

Germany frustrated again

Germany continued to dominate after the break, with Lennart Karl forcing a save before a scramble in the Greece box saw Florian Wirtz and Elias Treu both fail to get a shot away.

Greece had offered a greater threat as the half progressed, with Dinos Mavropanos heading straight at Jonas Urbig before Giorgos Masouras missed a huge chance from close range, sending a free header wide.

The game had become increasingly heated, with several bookings handed out as both sides stepped up the physicality and Greece coach Ivan Jovanovic was also cautioned.
