Hyderabad:Telangana State Road Transport Corporation reported that women are showing greater interest in state‑run bus services, with an additional 97.20 lakh passengers travelling in the last three months compared to the previous year.
While 3,467.91 lakh (34.67 crore) passengers travelled during the corresponding quarter in 2025, the figure rose to 3,565.11 lakh (35.65 crore) in 2026.
Compared to last year, an additional 97.20 lakh women availed themselves of the free bus travel facility under the Mahalakshmi scheme within just these three months.
TSRTC managing director Y. Nagi Reddy said special services and trip frequency had been increased to meet demand. By continuously monitoring routes with high passenger traffic and increasing the number of buses and trips, TSRTC is providing a comfortable and safe travel experience for women.
He added that significant positive responses were observed during July, August and September compared to the previous year.
