US aerospace major GE Aerospace has shipped four more F404-IN20 engines to India for the Tejas fighter jet programme in September 2026, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday.

“GE Aerospace shipped four F404-IN20 engines in September 2026. We remain focused on delivering the engines needed to power India’s Tejas indigenous fighter jets. We are proud to partner with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the Indian Air Force,” the spokesperson told ANI.

The September shipments follow three F404 engines shipped to HAL in August, taking the total number of engines shipped in the recent deliveries to seven.

The F404-IN20 engines are being supplied for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk-1A being manufactured by HAL for the Indian Air Force.

GE Aerospace has been supplying F404 engines for India’s Tejas programme and has committed to supporting the aircraft’s production requirements.

The LCA Mk-1A is an advanced variant of the indigenously developed Tejas fighter aircraft and incorporates several upgrades over the earlier Mk-1 version.

The latest shipment comes as India continues efforts to strengthen its indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and accelerate the production and induction of fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force.

GE Aerospace has also been working with Indian partners to expand aerospace manufacturing and strengthen the country’s aviation supply chain.
