CM Naidu Forms Ministers’ Panel to Resolve House-Site Issues Within 45 Days

Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced a three-member ministerial committee to resolve house-site issues within 45 days.

The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting in Amaravati. The committee comprises the housing, revenue and another minister.

The panel would examine vacant plots in existing layouts and registered plots abandoned by beneficiaries. It would also explore cancellation of such registrations and allotment of the sites to eligible beneficiaries.

It would examine modalities for acquiring land for nearly two lakh people identified as requiring house sites in the recently conducted Awas survey.

Housing minister Kolusu Parthasarathy briefed the media on the Cabinet decisions.

The cabinet ratified orders implementing the Thalliki Vandanam scheme for 2026-27. It approved the inclusion of 58,601 additional eligible students and financial assistance to 3,29,201 beneficiaries selected in the second phase. The administrative sanction was raised from Rs 10,120.78 crore to Rs 10,208.69 crore, taking the total number of eligible beneficiaries from 67,47,190 to 68,05,791.

The Cabinet approved the creation and implementation of the Horticulture Information and Management System to consolidate, manage and analyse horticulture-related data and improve services to farmers. The work would be entrusted to Vassar Labs IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

It also approved gratuity as an end-of-service benefit for eligible ASHA workers who die while in service. The benefit would be Rs 5,000 for every completed year of service, subject to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh. An estimated Rs 2.19 crore has been sanctioned for 2026-27.

The Cabinet approved upgrading the 30-bed community health centre at Repalle in Bapatla district into a 100-bed area hospital and creating 66 additional posts.

It approved an ordinance to amend provisions of the AP Education Act, 1982, removing certain procedural requirements for permitting or registering private schools. The changes are aimed at reducing regulatory and compliance burdens and aligning state rules with the Right to Education Act, 2009.

The Cabinet further approved the Andhra Pradesh Policy for Promotion of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions (FHEIs) and Private Universities, 2026, aimed at attracting foreign higher educational institutions and quality private universities to establish campuses in the state.

Monthly diet charges for students staying in welfare hostels, residential schools and other government institutions were increased by 10 per cent from October 1. The revised rates will cover 6,28,409 students under various welfare departments and the school education department.

The Cabinet approved a Centre of Excellence at the AP Tribal Welfare Residential School at Marikavalasa in Visakhapatnam for residential IIT-JEE and NEET coaching. It would accommodate 600 intermediate students, equally divided between boys and girls.

In Chittoor district, 1.69 acres of grazing ground poramboke land at Nakkanapalle village under Gudupalle mandal would be withdrawn for construction of an officials’ guest house under the Kuppam area development authority.

For NTR district, the Cabinet ratified orders providing for a one-time measure to change land classification and regularise long-standing occupations of government poramboke lands involving original assignees or legal heirs, third-party purchasers and other occupants.

It approved the free transfer of 7.66 acres of government land at Pathuru village in Nandalur mandal, YSR Kadapa district, to the endowments department for development works at the Sri Kanneshwara Swamy temple, subject to applicable conditions and receipt of the required NOC.

In Prakasam district, seven acres of vagu poramboke land at Kondepigadiaramvarikandrika village would be reclassified as assessed waste for construction of an MJPAPBCWREIS boys’ residential school and hostel.
