
Hyderabad: Madhapur police recovered around 50 mobile phones, which were reported lost or stolen in different incidents within the police station limits, using the central equipment identity register (CEIR) portal.
Police traced the phones using IMEI numbers and sustained follow-up and verification. The recovered devices valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh were traced from different locations, police said.
After completing the necessary verification and formalities, the phones were handed over to their respective owners at the Madhapur police station in the presence of deputy commissioner of police, Kukatpally zone. The owners expressed happiness and appreciated the police efforts.
The DCP appreciated Madhapur police personnel for effectively using the CEIR portal and technology-based methods to trace the devices. Police appealed to citizens to immediately report lost or stolen phones and provide their IMEI numbers to aid in tracing process.
