Ballari: BJP state president BY Vijayendra on Wednesday said there was no final decision yet on an alliance between the BJP and JD(S) for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections.
Vijayendra said he had spoken to Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on the issue and both parties would have to discuss the matter before arriving at a decision.
“If there is a desire to face the next Assembly elections together, there should be clarity even in the local body elections. Both parties have to sit together and discuss the issue. There is still time for the elections and a decision will be taken after discussions,” he said.
Vijayendra also alleged that the government was trying to intimidate BJP workers, Hindu activists and seers.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, he said, “The Chief Minister, who was under the illusion that he himself would become Chief Minister after 2028, has now realised the reality. It is out of that frustration that he is adopting such an approach.”
On former BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s possible return to the party, Vijayendra said there was no need to discuss the issue at present.
