VISAKHAPATNAM: Civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has noted that Andhra Pradesh is emerging as an investment destination, supported by faster approvals, industry-friendly policies and stable governance.

Addressing the CII Regional Summit at the Indian Institute of Management in Gambhiram, near here, he said the state was progressing fast with better Centre-state cooperation. Highlighting the summit’s theme, Time is Now, Investment is Key, Ram Mohan noted that investors were increasingly choosing Andhra Pradesh because of the state’s efforts to expedite project approvals through the APIIC single-window mechanism.

The central minister noted that project proposals were being processed and cleared within six to 12 months, encouraging industries to come to the state.

Ram Mohan Naidu, accompanied by heavy industries minister T.G. Bharat and minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy, visited an exhibition showcasing innovations and products from various sectors. The exhibition featured 25 companies representing industries including hydraulics, metallurgy, manufacturing technology, healthcare, agritech, electronics, renewable energy and speciality products.

Products from north Andhra, including Araku coffee, Pondhuru khadi, Madugula halwa and Etikoppaka wooden toys, were also displayed, highlighting the region’s industrial and cultural diversity.

The exhibition provided a platform for entrepreneurs, investors and industry leaders to network and created market opportunities for local producers.

Addressing the media, Bharat said the government’s focus was not merely on signing MoUs, but on converting investment proposals into operational projects. He said proposals worth about Rs 14 lakh crore had received cabinet approval and these could generate more than 10 lakh jobs.

Including previously signed agreements, investments worth nearly `22 lakh crore to `23 lakh crore had reached the confirmation stage, he said.

Bharat reiterated the government’s target of creating 20 lakh jobs over the next five years through industrial expansion and infrastructure development.

He said regional investment conferences were being organised ahead of the state’s flagship Partnership Summit, scheduled for Nov 12 and 13. The government was promoting cluster-based industrial development and establishing MSME parks in every Assembly constituency to ensure balanced growth across Andhra Pradesh, he said.
