Joey Porter Jr. will not play for the Cowboys on “Thursday Night Football” after he was ruled out due to an illness.

The Cowboys made the announcement about Porter 10 minutes before inactives had to be handed down for their matchup with the Buccaneers, and it came, according to NFL Network’s Jane Slater and Mike Garafolo, after Porter was “very sick” and was vomiting.

Porter, 26, did arrive at AT&T Stadium on Thursday night, but video of him walking into the facility showed the newly acquired Cowboys cornerback looking to be in some discomfort.

A short time later, Slater reported on X that a source with the team told her that Porter was ill when he arrived at the stadium, and he was then sent home.

That’s when Garafolo followed it up with some added detail.

“I’m told Porter has been vomiting with a bad virus. Just not in a condition to play tonight,” he wrote on social media.

It would have been Porter’s second game for the Cowboys since his trade from the Steelers.

He played 25 snaps against the Texans on Sunday and was likely to see even more playing time on Thursday night with the Buccaneers in town.
