Veteran actor Nana Patekar passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. Following his demise, the Panaji Police registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case, and further investigation is currently underway.
According to the police, the investigation is being led by PSI Nitin Naik. Patekar was taken from his residence to Manipal Hospital in Bambolim, where he was declared brought dead. The case was registered following a report from the hospital, as the actor had died at home while alone.

Further enquiry into the matter is currently in progress, led by PSI Nitin Naik.

Nana Patekar was cremated with full state honours at his Donje farmhouse in Pune on Thursday night. Following the last rites, his son, Malhar Patekar, spoke to the media about his father’s enduring legacy and expressed his determination to uphold the values and vision he left behind.
Speaking about the loss, Malhar said, “A person like Nana Saheb never truly leaves us; his achievements have made him immortal. Secondly, he always believed that everyone should come together and follow a righteous path on a global scale. Thirdly, regarding the future–carrying forward the vision Nana Saheb left behind is how we will shape the life ahead.”
Malhar’s statement reflected the family’s resolve to preserve the actor’s ideals and continue the work he believed in. While the police continue their enquiry into the circumstances of his death, Nana Patekar’s contributions to Indian cinema and the legacy he leaves behind remain a lasting part of his life and career.
