A fashion designer has shared her excitement after Claudia Winkleman wearing her creations on Celebrity Traitors after pitching them to her styling team
A fashion designer vowed to break out the champagne after Claudia Winkleman wore some of her creations on the latest episode of The Celebrity Traitors.
Claudia, 54, was seen in a black buff-sleeve knotted jumper and tank top designed by Edinburgh-based Judy R Clark as she greeted the cast at breakfast.
The presenter’s fashion choices have become a key part of the show with many items selling out due to the ‘Claudia effect’
Judy pitched her items to Winkleman’s team, headed up by celebrity stylist Sinead McKeefry who has worked with Claudia for 20 years, and was thrilled when they gave a resounding yes.
A Traitors fan herself, Judy said she believed her clothes were the perfect match for the presenter’s ‘British eccentric with a bit of Gothic edge’ style.
“It’s just really nice that they want to support and work with independent, female-led fashion designers,” said Judy. “Maybe get a bottle of champers out and celebrate, it’ll be lovely.”
“I’ve got two little ones and they’re big Traitors fans, so I think they’ll be absolutely overjoyed to see mum’s work on the TV.”
Judy, who interned with the late Alexander McQueen before establishing her own label, uses traditional Scottish materials in her fashion designs, with each piece hand-crafted in Scotland.
A mix of rich wool and tartan, tweed and luxury knits are Claudia’s signature style on the show, filmed at Ardross Castle in the Highlands.
Judy said: “We’ve got Scottish lace, and then we’ve got wool made in the Scottish Borders, and then we’ve got Harris Tweed in the Western Isles.
“So combining all those elements together is really part of my brand, being able to produce something that’s made in Scotland and using British and Scottish fabrics.”
After seeing her designs on the biggest show on TV right now, Judy said she was ‘beyond delighted’
“A huge thank you to the styling queen Sinead McKeefry and her team. It’s been hugely exciting . Scottish craft. Signature style. Claudia magic,” she said.
Last night’s episode, that saw Bella Ramsey ‘murdered’ and Julia Hesmondhalgh banished, averaged an audience of of 9.3 million viewers, with a very impressive 57.3% of the audience share while it aired.
