Chennai:In a firm bid to curb irregularities and eliminate illicit cash exchanges during the unloading of stock at retail liquor outlets, the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) management has issued a strict circular outlining mandatory protocols for shop personnel and transport contractors.
A directive, issued by the office of the Namakkal District Manager of TASMAC, enforces rigorous accountability measures to streamline supply chain logistics and plug operational loopholes across all retail outlets in the district.
Under the new directives, transport contractors are explicitly mandated to deploy their own workforce at their own expense to safely unload liquor consignments at retail shops, strictly barring them from engaging TASMAC outlet personnel for unloading tasks. Concurrently, outlet staff are instructed that every consignment carton arriving at the store must be verified and scanned using dedicated handheld devices before being taken into inventory; stocking or moving unverified goods into retail premises without barcode scanning is strictly prohibited.
Addressing concerns over unauthorised tipping and extortion, the circular strictly forbids any financial transactions between retail outlet employees and truck loaders or logistics workers, making it clear that not even a single rupee should change hands at the shop level.
TASMAC clarified that the wages for unloading operations will be disbursed directly by the District Manager’s office rather than collected or paid out at retail counters. The administration has warned that any non-compliance or complaints regarding illegal monetary exchanges will invite immediate and severe disciplinary action against the violators.
